Dr Robert Griffiths (Doctor of Chiropractic), has been successfully treating pelvic and coccyx pain, pudendal neuralgia and all other neuro-musculoskeletal injuries in The City and Notting Hill for almost 20 years. His unique modern approach achieves fast and lasting results by addressing the underlying cause of your pain. He started his career working under Michael Durtnall at Sayer Clinics, before setting up his own practices in 2012.
Dr Griffiths’ thoughts and approach to pelvic pain are below:
“Relieving pelvic pain is so much more than just working on muscles and joints. You have to treat the WHOLE person! The first thing we work on is calming the nervous system back into a healing aka ‘rest, digest and recover’ state.
To do this we work on emotional release techniques and breathing mechanics, as the pelvic muscles will never relax fully unless they are instructed to do so by the nervous system. Then we use gentle manual release techniques to unlock any tight muscles and fascia that have been restricted for a long time. This is direct in the pelvic and lower back/glute area and also further afield in the jaw, face, psoas, pecs and feet.
Once there is a healthy nervous system, calm breathing mechanics and relaxed muscles, it is time to start integrating movement back to the patient so they can begin to feel confident that simple daily task such as walking will trigger them back into a pain response.
Every session we do with a patient is followed up with simple exercises to build strength and make the patient more robust than before!
This multi-faceted approach gets much quicker and more lasting results than my previous experience of just using manual treatment.
